Once in awhile you have to let the wind blow you into Venice Beach. The mixture of the ocean, the music, the art, the incense.. It is a bit magical. In certain corners, you'd swear you're in the 60's. There is a gypsy in me that loves that. It's always an adventure and always out of the ordinary.
Last weekend, on an impromptu trip to the South Bay, I got the itch to head into Venice for some coffee and perusing. It was a sweltering day. Just hot and a bit muggy. The heat made it almost unpleasant. But the magic was there. The scents, sounds, crazies. It was all there and so alive.
Venice is one of those things that is real LA. It has some touristy qualities, but it's also just a bunch of Angelenos in their neighborhood. It's pretty grand.
And always, always listen to Love Street by The Doors when in Venice Beach. You will be transported.
