When we first were married, we went out shopping one day and came across this lovebird for sale at a gardening store. He was so sweet and pretty, we were quite taken with him and bought him on the spot. Here he is sleeping in my hand shortly after we brought him home. He was a sweet addition to the house and even evacuated with us during Hurricane Isaac- a member of the family. But during our trip to California we got word that our sweet birdie didn't look well, and by Christmas Eve morning he passed away. So sudden- these birds live about 15 years. We don't know how it happened. We never planned on being a bird family, but his sweet songs made our house so cheerful.. we knew we needed a new lovie.
Enter this pretty young thing. Lovebirds are hard to come by in New Orleans. No one had one in stock. They are afterall the smallest parrot, and rarer than you think. We contacted the gardening store and they put us in touch with a breeder. Last weekend we drove out to his aviary to take a look at all his gorgeous birdies. He didn't want to part with any of them, but finally after our vows to love the bird, he gave us the peach faced beauty. Happy to have a new birdie chirping. And now for a name... Suggestions?
