Truth be told I am a die hard Trader Joe's fan. I remember going to the TJ's in Redondo Beach in the late 80's with my parents, in my twenties as a workin' girl who needed to feel fancy, and now as a stay at home wife for all my favorite staples. It's nostalgic, it's quality, it's affordable. Cheese, wine, Belgian chocolates.. Just a few of the things I always go for. I've got a whole list of staples I can't get anywhere else.
That's why I was so surprised the other day when talking to my girlfriend about how she was just "not into the whole Trader Joe's thing."They just don't have everything." This isn't the first time I've heard this, it just baffles me. What's not to like?
It's true trader Joe's doesn't have it all. They are a specialty retailer with a limited number of skus. I told her about the chocolate, cheese and body products I just can't live without. I think I may have converted her. It's a supplemental store of treats, not a WalMart. Fun fact, did you know trader Joe's is the cheapest grocer in the nation for bread, cheese, eggs, and nuts? It's true, look it up.
I love finding new items on my Trader Joe's trips and love hearing what other people's favorites are.
Thought I'd start a series sharing my favorites and new finds. Today I'm talking about body products.
First up, this one is new to me. At $3.99 it hopped right into my cart. I've been using it on my cuticles and hands after dishwashing. It's non greasy, perfect for a variety of skin issues, and travels well. I have one in my purse too.
Next up, I discovered this facial wash a couple of months ago. I love all their tea tree body products and this one does not disappoint. Made a switch from using Cetaphil for years. I noticed my post-partum skin was a little off and wanted to try something new. At first I was skeptical. When I think of tea tree on my face, I think it might be a little too astringent, but this stuff is extremely gentle. It leaves my skin feeling so so smooth and I am quite certain my tone and clarity have improved since using it.
The facial pads are great too. They're a nice and invigorating wipe down after coming in from the beach or a work out.
The body scrubs. A decade or so ago, they carried the famous lavender body scrub and a grapefruit variety. The grapefruit was absolutely heavenly. (Hey Trader Joe's, bring it back!) Anyways, their body scrubs are fabulous. They are gritty, just like a spa quality scrub, and leave you feeling silky. The fragrance is so natural and just the right strength. I have yet to find a scrub this quality in this price range anywhere else. I use them on my legs every day in the summer and rinse the scrub to use the oils for shaving. Smoooooooth. There's no other way.
And my last favorites of the day are the body butters. The cocoa butter cream is always in my bathroom. These are the creamiest body butters for extra dry winter skin, and for glowing legs in the summer. I also slathered these on my belly throughout my pregnancy. Miracle creams.
What are your favorites?
