Aaaah the weekend. More time for beach exploring, concerts in the park, breaking out the barbecue, and family adventures.
We've been focusing on simple joys lately, like gardening, exercising, reading, creative projects, and organizing our tiny beach house. My focus is to be more mindful about what I bring into our home. Spending less, and buying the most useful. Like that adorable 3-tier jewelry box I found at Ikea. I'm keeping organized, getting out our hand-written thank you notes, and figuring out what to do with that huge harvest of tomatoes. Salsa? Tomato bisque? Anyone?
In keeping with that simple, mindful, intentional theme.. I've refined my skincare regimen. Actually, I've never been complicated when it comes to my skin. But 30 looms just a couple years away, and I need to preserve what's left of my youth after all these years of Sun-worshipping. Can you say alligator? Enter me jumping full-tilt-boogie on the coconut oil bandwagon! (ugh! I hate bandwagons and people who jump on them) But seriously, this stuff is good. I use it as a makeup remover and an eye cream. It's got alot more uses than just cooking. A sweet and subtle smell, and it's so creamy! Coconut for the win.
And can we talk about apple cider vinegar? We eat this on our salad nearly every night, and I am well aware of it's health benefits. It was only the natural progression that I try it out on my skin like everybody else. Turns out, I LOVE it as a toner too. After just over a week my skin is brighter and more even. Why didn't I do this sooner?! Talk about cheap and awesome! I also put together a once weekly mask with the vinegar, local organic honey, and lemon juice. I swear, there is nothing apple cider vinegar can't do.
And now I'm off to take my little man to the sand for some digging and splashing. Thank you California for being the most gorgeous place on the planet! Not bragging or anything, but I LIVE here! When you move away from California, you really appreciate coming back. Happy weekend y'all!
