Two blurry photos to match the blurry night we had.
Rewinding to Labor Day weekend, Albin and I got to spend the holiday in the Windy City celebrating a wedding and visiting with friends. Most of our trip flew by in a series of wedding related activities. I wish I had photos to share of the wedding.. it was quite the event. But my camera didn't come out of hiding until we played tourist on our last two days.
One super bonus about the trip.. my best friend, sister really, lives in Chicago! We got the royal tour from Jade and her boyfriend Tom- including a stop at their charming apartment. We were so happy to see them.
Can't do a Chicago post without mentioning food, right? Well I know most people will talk about Chicago-style pizza, but I wanted to give a different kind of shout-out. Tom told us about a place in Wicker Park that had really good barbecue-
Lillie's Q. After living in New Orleans, and having been to the Salt Lick in Texas... we feel qualified to judge good barbecue. Lillie's Q did not disappoint. This place is legit. The sauces, the meat, the fried pickles, The Old Fashioned's. It seems wrong to get barbecue in Chicago.. but we are STILL talking about this place.
We capped off the evening at the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building, followed by dive bar drinks, and a spirited round of Cards Against Humanity back at our hotel.
I could really go on and on about what a great time we had.. but I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Hoping we can get back to Chicago for another visit in the near future. Special thanks to our friends Jade and Tom for showing us around.. and a BIG congratulations to the beautiful newlyweds!
