We took him on a picnic, and it really was quite grand.
In the middle of urban sprawl, we found ourselves on a big green lawn, not a soul around.
We ate, and rolled in the grass.
Then he was very quiet and he seemed to be contemplating serious things in his little baby brain.
And then he started smiling.. I live for those little smiles and giggles. Really.
Becoming a mother- having a family- it really gives you moments to pause.
Most days I fall into bed completely ragged from chasing a little boy around..
and I wonder if all mothers of little boys do the same.
But on days like this, where we have no special plans.. just ordinary outings.. and picnics.
THESE are the days I really love.
An unplanned discovery, a new adventure, watching my son experience life.
It's so so good.

we love picnics over here too. But we sure miss that California weather. Picnics in the South are less frequent this time of year, as I'm sure you know.

Does Benny always smile that much or does are you just great at capturing the smiles? I've never seen a baby smile as much as Benny does.
