My Dear Baby Boy,
I can't believe you are one month old today. One month since that crazy day when we watched you enter this world.. It still doesn't seem real. I remember how hard I cried the moment you were born.. and how anxious I was to hear those air filled lungs let out a cry.. how eager I was to hold you. So much has happened since we brought you home. So many firsts. You had your one month well check appointment yesterday, and you clocked in at 11 pounds, 11 ounces! You are 23 3/4 inches long. Watch out! 95th percentile! What a big boy! For awhile there I wasn't sure if you were getting enough to eat.. now I know! You also had to get your hearing re-tested after your stay in the NICU. You passed of course.. you are our perfect baby! We'll be celebrating your one month birthday with cupcakes and a photo shoot. Mama and Daddy are just too proud..
A few other notes about your first month..
You've been holding your head up lots and lots, kicking those legs, and flashing us a few charming smiles.
You lost your umbilical stump right at two weeks and promptly got your first real bath. You don't seem to mind the bath too much. The warm water is good.. it's just the cold part when the water is turned off. You like to be snuggled in a freshly warmed towel.
We feel blessed that you've been such a good baby.. only crying when you need to eat or be changed.
You've been kind enough to give Mama a few 4 hour stretches at night.. and to help the pattern continue, we've started a new night time routine. Bath, story, feeding, sleep time.. It seems to be working.. for BOTH of us. You know just what Mama needs to stay sane!
Now that we're taking you out and about, we've been getting lots of attention.. something about a fresh newborn baby is so irresistible. At least that's how we feel.
I have loved every moment with you! We can't wait to see what the future has in store.
A Few Moments of Month 1
A very special thanks to our dear friend Heather McPhee for having this special pillow made for Bennett. We love it and will treasure it always!
